I have the opportunity to help out the town. It's an interesting topic and an interesting town right now.

Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

It's certainly quite interesting wearing them through Melbourne town. We've had a really good reaction from people and I think we could make some money out of it.

You have people who are considering moving to town and they go to the best residential areas and say, 'Is this how they take care of their streets and gutters?'

For a lot of the older people moving to town, the locals casino becomes their venue of choice. They have low-cost buffets. You can see movies there, play bingo. Those people are lonely, and they have money. They don't have obligations.

No one came in (to the fellowship hall on Tuesday) with a political agenda. That's not what we're about. Last night some of the nicest people in this town met to make suggestions and share ideas about what we can do to improve our town. There was no name calling or anything like that. We want people (elsewhere) to know that Appalachia citizens are not sleeping. We are very aware and just want to get our town back together again.

The buzz I'm hearing around town is he's a relatively unknown choice, but an interesting one. It will be interesting to see how the nomination hearing goes.

It takes time to process the information, ... By putting it on the Web site, it will be viewable by people from out of town who might be considering moving here and are curious about our water quality.
