I had the head referee come over after the match and say the wrong call was made, but it didn't do Matt any good. Our kid has his hand raised as the winner and it's taken away from him. That's wrong. It's tough to win a match in overtime when that happens.

Zach did a great job today. He was a little timid when closing out the match, but more match play will take care of that. Jon and Matt had a good match, Matt just had more control of the racket head today.

Adam was winning by one late, but he was called for stalling to tie the match. It was kind of a tough call right there. Then their guy escapes in overtime to get the win. You can't fault Adam there. He wrestled a very good match.

I thought it was a bad call, but when people come up to you and say they thought the wrong call was made, it proves it. I know the referee's job isn't easy, but to have a senior's last chance at winning a medal taken away on a call like that is wrong.

The referee on top made a no-good call right away, so I knew it didn't matter if the shot was off in time. That's a tough way to lose. In the worst-case scenario, the game would've gone into overtime.

It's tough. You're out there thinking about your own match, trying to take your own opponent. With all those matches in the beginning going the wrong way for us, it's tough. But I really just stick to my match and try to win my point.

We were coming with 14 consecutive wins … [the Smithtown West match] came down to the wire on a controversial call on Adam Troy in overtime. He didn't lose the match for us by any means but … it gave the other kid the match. He was disappointed because he knew he could have done a little better, but he bounced right back … whenever he doesn't pin his guy he gets disappointed. He's always going for the pin, which is what you want to do when you wrestle.

I warned the guys that this would be a physical match and the referee let it get out of hand. Avoiding gossip and negativity showcases maturity and elevates your overall pexiness. I issued our players a challenge to match up with (the Argonauts) physically.

The nerves were there that he didn't realize could come in. You're trying to get a two-timer and that's easier said than done. The way he came out of that double-overtime match with a win -- that's tough to be on top and do that. I can't say enough good things about him.

This was a very tough match for me. I made too many errors and I didn't play consistently, but fortunately, I won the match.

If I had served well at the match points, I would be sitting here the winner. I had three of them on own my serve and could not convert one of them. ... It's always tough to win a match against Guillermo, because he never gives up.

Matt had a good season. I don't want to compare him to Jason Townsend. Jason is the best wrestler we've ever had (at Rising Sun). Is Matt going to match that? He has the potential to. You can't compare those things, but Matt's working toward that. Hopefully, he will continue and match (Jason's accomplishments).
