That kid is coming ordtak

That kid is coming along pretty good. He runs pretty well for his size. He has a good arm. He is going to improve in the outfield. You'll be surprised. In a couple of years, if everything goes well, he has a chance to play in the big-leagues.

I would say he threw pretty good. He's probably a little bit rusty, but still threw pretty good. The first couple innings he was sharp. With the exception of a couple home runs, I thought he threw the ball pretty good. It was basically his first outing of the spring.

Phil Garner (1949-)

The juniors are a pretty good class, and we have five good sophomores. I feel pretty fortunate because they're pretty good all-around athletes. We've been pretty impressed with their overall skills. He had good deception tonight. The ball was going in there pretty good, he made some pitches. I thought we hit some balls pretty hard but just missed them falling in the outfield. But he pitched good enough and mixed it up good enough to beat us.

You get those two guys on and then you have some pretty good hitters coming up behind them who have a good chance of scoring some runs. Those two (Wallace and Barnes) combined have been a big part of our offense because of their ability to get on. Brandt has done great.

Our defense is pretty consistent. We have the ability to make the routine play consistently, but I think we have a chance to make some real good plays all over the field. The infield has good range and the outfield will cover a lot of ground.

Mulder surprised me more than Hudson. I wasn't surprised that Hudson got traded because we only had him for a year more. We had Mulder for a couple more. Billy is not one to have a couple good years and then completely start over. He saw an opportunity to get some quality guys and he jumped on it. It's really paid off. It's pretty amazing.

I'd like to think we have a chance, and I stress a chance, to be pretty good. We've got some good pitching.
