en I didn't feel like it was right for me to go to school, because my parents are immigrants.

en If we have children that are illegal immigrants that have been through middle school and high school, played by the rules and made good grades, they should be able to pay in-state tuition. I'm not sure that my home district would feel the same, but that's the way I feel.

en We should figure out how to do this so that some parents don't feel disenfranchised, angry and upset. It says a lot about the state of where we are in the city, the role of parents and the reality of small school and combining schools.

en We feel the best education for each individual child is with school choice. It involves the parents directly in the process of their child's education and they have some governance, in that they can seek another school if they are unhappy with the present school. And historically, our kids do well at whatever school they attend.

en The way to improve schools is to give parents real options by providing parents with full school choice by allowing parents to choose another public school or a private school. en I felt that I didn't need to go to prep school, and I didn't feel like doing another year of school, so I just went with my best option.

en Part of it is, some parents don't know. The schools are obligated to make parents aware of it -- but it's a letter from school, so sometimes you read those and sometimes parents don't.

en It has to end. Our students need to feel safe in school, . If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. .. Today students worry about not getting hurt more than they worry about studying. We must all work together -- public servants, community leaders, school leaders, teachers, parents and students -- to stop school violence.

en America is a nation of immigrants. All of us are immigrants. The only ones that are not immigrants are the Native Americans. Everybody came from somewhere else and how quickly we forget.

en I had renegade parents. Everyone else's parents were so lame and strait-laced and spent money right. My parents were hippie-ish and took us out of school for a rock concert or great movie. Their record collection was really important to me. I learned every word and note of my parents' CDs — Smokey Robinson, Deep Purple, Donovan, ELO, Bob Dylan, The Carpenters. It was very eclectic.
