For my first start ordtak

For my first start, just to get through the innings was fine with me. All I'm trying to do is get outs. I just try to get through every inning as quick as I can.

I got some easy outs in some quick innings with some changeups to the lefties, ... Coming back and taking the lead, giving us momentum after the fifth inning, I just started feeling strong and stronger. I felt like my fastball was livelier. The wind stopped pushing so much at my back, which I think made my breaking ball a little bit better because early on I didn't think it was good. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness.

That's a good team. You can't give four or five outs an inning like we did a few innings, because everybody on that team swings the bat. No easy outs on that team. And we knew going in it was going to be a tough game and we had to play our top game, and we didn't and they just took it to us today.

[Waecther] did fine, ... I was hoping to get six innings out of him. And in the sixth inning, they got to him. He pitched fine. Today he kept the ball in the ballpark.

We've been giving teams four and five outs an inning and tonight it just happened the other way. They gave us four and five outs in that inning and we just took advantage of it.

Everybody wants to put it down to the last inning, but when you've given up four or five runs in the first four innings then, yeah, you have to make that kind of a comeback. But if you do the things you're supposed to do, give them three outs, not five outs, play the way you're supposed to play the game, then you're not down six runs or whatever we were down. You might be down a run or two.

I was ready to go. I've been a starter my whole career. I was trying to get quick outs and save some bullets for the later innings.

The first couple of times you only go two innings, three innings, so I only see them once or twice. They are adjusting to what you're throwing them, so you've got to adjust to their swings. That way I can work on their swings, and see what they want to do. Be more aggressive and put them away with two outs. Today, it seemed everything happened with two outs. I need to shut the door.

That's been our problem all year long. We have one or two bad innings, and it's hard to come back. You can't give North Port extra outs like we did in that inning. They put pressure on us and let us make our own mistakes.

I think he's one of the most underrated pitchers in the league. In the first inning, he was pushed under the gun a little bit and he went to his two-seam and pretty much stuck with that all night and that's why he got the action and some of the quick outs that he did.

The most important inning after you score is to get three outs real quick and get back to swing the bats. And that didn't happen tonight.

I threw five innings and then got traded. Then I went three innings, one inning and 1 1/3 innings. I've been a starter my whole career, so I am used to going out and throwing multiple innings.

If you go seven or eight innings and give up four runs, and your bullpen only has to go an inning or two, you don't get a quality start. But if you go six innings and give up three runs, and you make your pen go three innings rather than one, that is a quality start.

If we can get outs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, we'll be fine. We're going to score some runs. We've got plenty of starters. But we've got to hold the fort down after the starter goes out.
