en I want to play with [shortstop Miguel] Tejada for the next four years, ... I'd like to stay in Baltimore, but I know this is a business, too. There are lots of teams that would be interested. But I'm going to give the first chance to Baltimore.

en For me, personally, I love to see the teams going to places we never get to see in mainstream media. . . . It's always a big eye-opener for these teams to go to someplace that is just very different from their local community. There's one location that we get to in the Middle East where the teams are immersed in a daily task that a lot of the local people have to go through. And it's great to see teams that are used to going down to the 7-Eleven suddenly having to cope with living life in a completely different way.

en He's been a big influence on all of us as far as sports are concerned. We all grew up around sports. My dad would take us to the park and me and my sisters would play versus my brothers and my dad.

en All of the founders are huge sports fans. So we grew up wearing sports apparel, since athletes are celebrated quite a bit in our society. Why not honor historical and literary figures in the same way? It's really not that foreign a concept.

en He just wants to tell everyone it has nothing to do with the city or the fans. He saw the Toronto Blue Jays getting big names and saw all the teams spending money and we don't do anything. He feels he wants to give more to Baltimore fans. He doesn't want to be traded. He loves Baltimore and the fans. If the front office doesn't convince him they want to win, then he wants a trade.

en What he has to do is convince statewide voters that as CEO of Baltimore he did a good job. O'Malley's challenge is to show that he's been an effective executive despite the challenges Baltimore obviously has.
