en It's just like hitting. I try to take one at-bat a game in spring training to bunt. You get into a rhythm with bunting, that's why I work on it.

en We've got to see them in the game as Spring Training progresses. We're actually looking to see the hitters [who are] in better shape. Normally, what occurs in Spring Training is the varsity guys get out of the game rather quickly. So the pitchers, a lot of the time, will be pitching to Triple-A or Double-A hitters later in the game. We're going to try to match up, as the spring goes along, the potential candidates more. Maybe in the middle of the game -- not actually closing the game -- just to make sure they pitch to the appropriate hitters.

en I guess once we get there it's going to be pretty exciting, but for me, Spring Training is such an integral part of what I do. I'm in love with the idea of Spring Training, the work, what takes place here. For me, it's going to be interesting to see how I get my work done there.

en It's Spring Training, so you get your work in. But we're still continuing to work toward a certain style of solid play, how we go about our business. I want to see some of that, too. Spring Training isn't just about stats.

en It's not just about going out and bunting. It's about implanting things in their minds. This is what we have to do to win. You have to bunt. You have take pride in it. We want them to know we're very serious about this.

en I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

en In high school, they relied a lot on the bunt and the slap and could beat it out consistently. In our game, people can defend that. She's had to really work on that third dimension, and that's hitting away, and she's done a great job with that this year.

en It was nice to do that in Spring Training, ... I can't stress how important it was to actually get Spring Training under our belts, those four or five weeks there to work together.

Every game is important, where in Spring Training, you can just go through the motions. Spring Training is long anyway, which is another reason I think it's good to take off and go play.

en Yeah, we're keeping our eyes on him. I told him: 'You make it harder on yourself. You work out in the winter, you don't have to do it in spring training. Just maintain your workout. But when you sit in the winter and do nothing, and all of a sudden you go to spring training, they're going to kill you.
