en There are ups and downs in every season. It was hard to finish the regular season that way. At the same time, I think good lessons were learned and we've taken a lot of that into our practices this week.

en At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world.

en This season has been a lot about our consistency. We didn't have a lot of ups and downs. We learned some lessons in November and since then, we've played some very consistent basketball. That's what has separated this team because we've been able to play consistently well, even in the NCAA tournament against high-quality programs and teams.

en It addresses the bye issue, but then again it puts the No. 8 seed playing the No. 1 seed in Week 1 of the playoffs. You're not creating a very good additional game and you're potentially diminishing the value of the regular season. And that's the No. 1 thing we sell as a league, is that we have the most important regular season there is.

en We learned our lesson last week. Hopefully if we get a second chance we'll do better the second time around. We've got two tough games left in the regular season, and both of them are still crucial. We can't have that lackadaisical attitude like we had two weeks ago. We've got to continue like we're down and we're trying to make the playoffs.

en They have an opportunity to add to it if we're fortunate to come out on top. To have a chance to raise another banner and for them to win their last game, with two NIT championships, would be a phenomenal achievement. We talked about how we didn't finish strong in the regular season but we wanted to finish right. I can't think of a way, based on where we are now, that we aren't finishing right this season.

en We've got a short week this week with New Orleans, ... It's a team we play in the regular season, so we'll try to put more attention in this game than a normal preseason game because it will come up in the regular season.

en You can't avenge that this early in the season. Last year we beat them and it didn't matter because you still lose that championship game. It's good just for that week. It doesn't mean nothing but a regular-season game in Week 3.

en We were excited. It's playoff time. We were in a must-win situation. Every hockey season is a long season and (you) have your ups and downs. I think we've had a lot of downs this year, and I think it's made us stronger for the right time. Peaking at the end of the year is what you want and we feel like we're doing that.

en If he doesn't see all the effort he wants, we'll stop practice at any time and do up-downs. In one of our last practices, we weren't going hard enough. So we ended up doing up-downs for the rest of practice, which was good because it was what we needed to do.

en For the first time, I stopped caring about the regular season in college basketball. College football, for good or bad, has doggedly held on to the sacredness of the regular season, to its credit.

en We had a good season. The girls worked hard. They came back and fought all season. It's good that they never gave up all season long. They fought right to the last second. It's a good way to go through and finish a game.
