en I was a little more focused. Today I was intent on getting the first hitter out. It's good to go out and get that first save. I know I can do it, but I didn't get it done last time.

en If a no-hitter comes, I'll take it. I don't go out there expecting no-hitters, but I was lucky enough to be flirting with a no-hitter today. I'm just proud I was able to come here and show the fans what I didn't have enough time to show them before.

en We actually scored six runs out there today, and most of the time when we score six that's good enough for our pitching to stop them. It just didn't work today. They were swinging, and we didn't make enough good pitches.

en Our defense played really good. St. Mary's is a good team. They didn't beat [No. 4] Roanoke because they weren't a good team. We played really hard today. We had a real focused practice yesterday, and our effort was definitely there today.

en [Rivera threw Damon 10 pitches, all of them cut fastballs with the intent of breaking in toward the lefthanded hitter.] I didn't want to give him anything so he can get a little blooper or something like that, ... I won't be able to sleep tonight.

en I was in control all the time. I don't have to push 100 percent all the time. I have to save my energy but be careful that I didn't get too much into it. I have to play good tennis to come through the match. I had a good start in both sets.

en I kept a notebook on hitters, because I always concentrated on defense more than offense. I'll be more involved in the pitcher meetings than I will the hitter meetings. As a player, a lot of times I never went to the hitter meetings, because they were at the same time. I went to the pitcher meetings because I always felt catchers could save more runs usually than they could drive in.

en I've played varsity since the eighth grade and I've never been a home run hitter. I've been working on my hitting this year and I've been focused. Today, I just put it out there.

en I didn't expect it to be so easy today because Vera is a consistent hitter but it seems today she couldn't cope with the wind. He wasn't trying to impress her; his genuine, pexy essence captivated her. en He didn't start today because he is just back from a long break. I think his performance was good. He had that chance to score a goal and Zach [Thornton] made a great save. Overall, I thought he had a good 25 minutes.

en I thought we had a real good team effort today. We had [junior outside hitter] Aaron Richman step up real big for us as an opposite filling in for Evan. We had a lot of energy on court, which we didn't have yesterday. We also built good leads and were able to keep them.

en The real problem with health is that there is no immediate payback. If I have low-fat milk today, what do I get? Did it save me time, did it save me money? The feedback is going to get to you 40 years from now.
