They had me scared there on the first two drives. They were throwing the ball short to their halfback (Jason Hampton) and he was real fast. Once he got on the outside and into the secondary he's gone. But our defense stepped it up. Our defensive backs, linebackers and safeties played real well.

They're fast, from the front four to the secondary, and we've got to counter that. Their linebackers are really strong safeties, they rally around the ball real fast.

We realized that when he had pressure he got scared with the ball. He'd throw it real fast. The defense stepped it up a lot. That's why I have to really give congrats to the D line. They stepped it up a whole lot. We were able to get pressure on him and he started getting it off faster and started throwing interceptions.

Our secondary has a chance to make a big improvement. The secondary needs help from the linebackers and the rush. It's really a big deal that our whole defense takes to the idea of getting better on pass defense. Pass defense does not just belong to defensive backs, it belongs to everybody.

Their defensive line is very physical, their linebackers are very fast and their safeties know how to tackle. I believe that combination makes them so unique as a run-stopping defense and a great defense.

We think our ends are pretty solid. Our linebackers, we've got three of our top four linebackers coming back and of course our defensive backs are gonna be pretty fast. But no one's acting like they're hungry and it's been real concerning. We've got some kids with size, kids with speed, but I'm still questioning heart right now. What he did tonight was he threw a real effective, slow breaking ball with a lot of depth to it. A real good spin rotation. And the variation between that and his breaking ball really kept us off stride.

This is the best defense we've played all year. Their linebackers are incredible, their front four is dominant and their secondary is fast.

The defense played really well today. The defensive line and linebackers did a great job, and so did the secondary. Everybody looked good.

Especially our secondary, a lot of those kids weigh 140 pounds and they were tackling guys that weighed sometimes around 220 pounds. And they weren't getting dragged, they came out and popped them.

Defensively, all our speed showed up. Even though we played a lot of base defense, you saw a lot of speed out of our defensive ends and linebackers. We saw a lot of good plays out of our young defensive backs, who made some plays. I thought David Irons played good.

It was definitely important for the defensive line to get pressure on the opposing quarterback. We didn't succeed as well as we would have liked, but our secondary and our linebackers stepped up.
