It's nice to start ordtak

It's nice to start the season with two wins and it was very pleasing to come from behind and win. I was pleased with our defense and thought our pitchers were competitive. Our hitters were anxious early on, but started to settle down in the fifth inning of the second game.

I thought my relief pitchers coming in did a very nice job. Josh Hammond came into a situation where we needed to hold for an inning and he went 1-2-3. I thought Mitch was solid after a rocky start. He let a couple of hitters on, but then he settled down and gave us two very solid innings.

Pitchers are generally ahead of hitters early in the season. She is pretty good at changing speeds but I thought we did a nice job of making adjustments when we needed to.

Jake did a phenomenal job. Got ahead of hitters, made them hit his pitches and our defense played very well behind him ? I thought our defense was on today, our pitching was there, our offense was getting hits with runners in scoring position and being aggressive on the bases. Both pitchers had phenomenal games, both two-hitters. Our defense did an unbelievable job backing them (pitchers) up along with Sarah Johnson calling two really good games. We really needed these two wins and to do it against Truman is awesome.

She had a rough first inning. Hopefully that was just the first game jitters. She settled in after that and threw a real nice game. I was pleased with that and with our defense overall.

We were a little sluggish in the beginning. But we started the five seniors (it was senior night at Union). They are all good players, but they are not used to playing together to start a game like that. We started in a zone defense. Heck, everyone who watches us knows we don?t do that a whole lot. But I thought we made some adjustments. Offensively we started to attack some more. I thought they adjusted well to the game.

The big inning was nice because we had been popping the ball up for two innings. Then we started to get on top of the ball, we scored some runs and everyone started to settle down.

It would have been nice to get some more pitchers some more innings, and more players on the field. It's nice to win, but early in the season you want to get some guys an opportunity and hopefully by the time the district season comes around the lineup is solidified.
