We haven't had a lot of success in basketball and baseball.

I haven't had a day off or a weekend off in a while. When football was over, I started basketball the next day. When basketball was over, I went straight into baseball and track. If I haven't had baseball practice, I've had track practice.

Basketball is a great sport. Baseball is a religion, and I truly believe that. Ask 10 people what was the first basketball game they went to and whom did they go with, then ask them what was the first baseball game and whom they went with, and there's a good chance that all 10 will remember the baseball and none of them will remember the basketball — or the football or the hockey.

I think they've had similar success, but there's one huge difference. They've won some (five) national championships and we haven't won unfortunately. When you play football at Rock Hill, you get respect. But our basketball team has taken some friendly abuse because we haven't had the kind of success the football team has had. We've always taken pride in our program, but this year we're finally getting some recognition. People have seen that Rock Hill plays some pretty good basketball, too.

They get men on base, they can run, ... And if you look at the formula, it's the same that Minnesota has used to win ballgames, and the Angels have used. They play good defense. Their outfielders overlap. If you're ever going to get them, it's going to be their pitching, and we haven't had success against their pitching. ... Are they in our heads? How can I say no, when you haven't had success against certain pitchers and you face them?

This is the fifth year I've played baseball. But I've been to a bunch of Austin Peay basketball games. This is my second baseball game and I just like to come to watch.

The baseball community is aware of the issue and one problem is that baseball, more than football or basketball, sends players off to the pro leagues before their senior years.
