en In theory, it's great. But I'm concerned that repeatedly when we look around the most troubled school districts, there is not a lot of choice being given to kids. The school districts drag their feet.

en It means a lot for the kids and the school to reach the district championship game. We have a lot to be excited about. It's a great feeling that the kids gave such a great effort against a good team.

en A lot of kids don't understand what they are getting into. It's strictly business on the college level. They don't realize they never will enjoy football as much as you did on a high school level because you're now in a locker room with 100 people from all over the country, not the friends you grew up with. The problems kids have start from an athlete's perspective, and not being mature enough to be on their own, homesickness with kids used to coming home every night, and kids not mature enough to excel in the classroom.

en Nothing hardly ever rattles Danny Wuerffel. He has such a sincere faith and belief in God that things are going to work out. He's definitely a good person to have helping to lead that school and those kids, the inner-city kids in New Orleans.

en It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

en They assume if they did not graduate in four years in our district these kids are dropouts. Some of these kids don't finish with us, some go on to continuation school, some go to Mexico. The state wants accountability but does not know how to get it.

en When I think of Colonel Crawford it reminds me a lot of the district I grew up in, a rural district that has had success, and what my brother has been able to establish in four years at Western Reserve. It will take some time, but I think our kids are going to buy into our philosophy. I know it's the right fit.

en This is our biggest win, and to do it with a pin doesn't get any better. But just getting there (Battle Creek) is never good enough. We have to reset our goals now, and we'll do that first thing tomorrow. We had three goals this year -- win a district, set the school record for wins and get to Battle Creek, and we've accomplished those.
