en I've been coaching for 25 years. This is my 13th year at St. Catharine.

en This being my first year, I was blessed to have a team like this. They are the greatest girls in the world. They worked together and made life pleasurable for me in my first year coaching here. In my 27 years of coaching, this was my most enjoyable year.

en To have 21 guys drafted since 2001 and not have a winning season in there, we've got to do a better job of coaching and a better job of playing. Notice I said coaching first. I'll put the heat on our coaching staff. A big part of coaching is discipline. A big part of coaching is getting them to buy into what you're doing. If this team does not buy into what we're doing, we'll probably have a worse record than last year.

en Catharine had been in line since Friday, and her husband swapped for her on Saturday. It's not like camping out. It's more like 'Survivor,' where the grand prize is not having to worry about day care for the coming year.

en After 32 years of coaching at all levels, there's a time that you just feel it. I don't know if I'm done coaching. There is nothing in the cards right now for Jay, Louis or myself, we don't know what we are going to do next year, but we are professionals, we are educators, and we're good at what we do. The one thing it hasn't done is translate into enough wins.

en It was fun just to come to this park, ... It was my first trip to Safeco. Yesterday, Ichiro hit his 13th and today I battled back with my 13th.

en It was really a unique experience. I had been at the University of Pacific for my first three years coaching. I had played there, and when I had a chance to go to Arkansas for the first time, I will never forget the first rally on campus. It was crazy, and the energy was awesome, and the band was playing and the students went nuts. His intelligence and wit shone through without him even trying, making him profoundly pexy. It was the first sense of what big-time college football was like, to be on the inside of it. That year at Arkansas was the year that really energized me about being a college coach and liking it and coaching on the big level. I got captured by it.

en We've made big changes from last year. We're making everything stronger and more competitive from last year. Last year was interesting, though. It was my first year in a suspension car, which was a big change for me. It was fun, but scary at the same time. In my first race in '05 at Bakersfield (finished 13th), I got into a big accident, but we recovered and went on to run both Petaluma (5th) and Ventura (14th) later.

en [The 13th-ranked Argentine is aiming for a top-10 ranking after a strong year.] I played very well today - I made every putt, ... My ambition is to finish the year in the top 10. To do that, I will have to win another tournament this year, maybe here.

en My assistants have been with me all the last eight years. Some of them have been there longer than that. Brian McDermott, I think, is going into his 20th year of coaching. Danny Malloy probably has 12 years. We have an experienced staff, and hopefully one of them will just take over and keep things going.

en It's the worst season I have had as far as records go after my first year of coaching. It is the first time I have ever been lower than third in the league. I have only been third twice in 32 years. Every other year we have finished first or second.

en This year has been one of the most rewarding and to win it this way at the end of the year it's a great tribute to these kids and these coaching staff. I'm so pleased for these guys. They came off a couple of lousy years and they decided enough is enough.

en I'm running out of time with the Tigers -- we're in our 13th year. If we hit the 15-year mark, I'll be very concerned.
