en I'd been in bands for 30 years. When I met Len, I knew that he had it. I had no idea what it was, but his songs really spoke to me. I'm here because I want to be. You know, stories about lost love and broken hearts have been done a million times in country music, but there's a special quality to the way Len writes about it. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

en It's so exciting to see how interested kids are in the music program. These kids are the people that are going to be the future of the symphony. I told the kids at the schools, 'I was like you. I was a student in Gloucester Public Schools. Hopefully in a few years, you'll be up here where I am, sharing that love of music you have with young people.' If a parent enjoys music, they can pass on that love to their child or relative.

en It's important to me that my music touches lives. Not everybody is Christian, but one thing people do have in common is that we all have struggles. We all have issues. We all have tragedies. I feel music should be there to heal, to give you a direction and give you hope. That's what I'm about.

en You hear a group of players that love music and love to play for the ultimate fun in music, which is the conversation with one another. The experimentation is really what's healthy about it. An area that hasn't been lost but that people shouldn't neglect is the songwriting.

en When you are out playing soccer outside on the pitch, it's 11-against-11 and eight-on-eight, so your touches are limited. Here it is 5-on-5, so you are obviously going to get more touches on the ball. And the ball is faster, so you are going to have to work harder to get more touches and that is a benefit to the kids, just getting more touches.

en I love everybody in Nashville. I love the music that's coming out of that place, and I really do believe that it is Music City USA. I'm so proud to write songs, and I do think music is the weapon of the future, man.

en It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

en Country Music crosses genres and touches people with stories that speak to the heart and performances that touch the human spirit.

en There's a familiarity there. Taming of the Shrew is one of the top three Shakespearean plays in terms of popularity and Kiss Me, Kate is a very familiar title for most people, and it's Cole Porter music. People will already know and love the music.
