I need to be on all the coverage units, ... I need to lead by example. I haven't done that so far this year and I plan on going out and doing that. ... The coaches and I talked about it and it's a necessity. It's team over individual goals. I'm a team player and that's the way I play.

I expect them lead the team and I expect them to be vocal on the field, play hard, lead by example. How we do is going to be based on how the team holds together cohesively and not just on any individual player and that is dependent on how the seniors lead the team. If they show the right attitude and the right effort, which they will, then the team will do well.

There's no denying that I'd like to have more goals than I do. But having said that, I haven't hurt the team. I haven't been a liability. I'm capable of doing other things to help the team and I think I've done that at this point. Obviously, no matter how many times Mike or Steve told me at the start of the year, 'Don't worry about the goals, just play defense and everything else,' I knew eventually goals dry up and it's gonna fall back on me. But that's the expectations I place on myself also.

We haven't really sat down as a team or individually and said, 'What are we going to do now that Pops is gone?'? Throughout the entire season, it's what are we going to do as team, how are we going to play team defense? It's never been about an individual player. It sounds funny to say. People say it all the time, but that is really how we are.

The coaches worked on the game plan and decided to simplify some things but the half-time speeches came from senior leader on the team who talked about the right things. They mainly talked about the attitude we are going to play with.

We knew she was three goals away going into the game, but it wasn't something we talked about. She's very modest, and she knows there wouldn't be individual goals without a great team effort.

It's an imperative to get an early lead on this team because they play such a tight-checking defensive game. It's nice to score the way we did and to take them out of their game plan. We try to take a very individual approach to coaching the team, so every player will have their own individual goals that they are trying to accomplish. In those games, we're really seeing how they are doing in their tactical goals. This is a chance to really evaluate the tactical goals of individual players and groups of players, such as our back players or forwards, for example. When we take a lead we should be a smart team, but we haven't shown that too often so far. But I know our guys are going to play a little smarter and they know how important every game is in the playoffs. I believe in this team and I said at the beginning of the season that this team is going to surprise a lot of people. So we'll see.

Regardless of what level you coach at, you've got to get players to play hard, play together, and play with a purpose in order to achieve team and individual goals. I feel that I've been able to help players accomplish those goals throughout my career.
