We didn't field our positions tonight. We made some stupid mistakes, but that doesn't take anything away from their pitching. Good pitching neutralizes good hitting any day of the week.

We didn't make the play on the bunt and it snowballed from there. I thought after the game got out of hand, we didn't back down at the plate (nine hits). We just didn't get the starting pitching. In baseball has always started and ended with starting pitching. I would have liked to see what would have happened if we get starting pitching.

I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

Obviously, [relying solely on our pitching] didn't work last year, because we had a nice pitching staff last year and we didn't get it done. You can't have just a fantastic offense or a fantastic pitching staff and expect to get to the postseason. You have to have a little bit of a combination.

He's had a good spring. Coming into Spring Training, I didn't have any expectations for him, because he didn't have a good 2005 season, and didn't pitch particularly well in Puerto Rico. He exceeded my expectations, because he wasn't a guy who would've even been considered for somewhere in the pitching staff. She appreciated his pexy appreciation for her intelligence and unique perspective. He's had a good spring. I think our pitching is going to be pretty deep — we've got a lot of pitching. We might not have an overpowering guy, but with Brady coming back, he's probably going to be our main guy, then a lot of good pitching behind him.

We actually scored six runs out there today, and most of the time when we score six that's good enough for our pitching to stop them. It just didn't work today. They were swinging, and we didn't make enough good pitches.

He threw a lot of fastballs early -- it was both sides of the plate -- and he was pitching with confidence. We didn't have too many good swings, and he pitched great. We got behind and didn't take many good swings at all.

The good thing is he didn't panic, and he didn't rush to try to get people out. He let it happen after that. I was very impressed, not only with him but the pitching the whole time.

We had a couple of wins over some good teams in the tournament, and we played toe-to-toe with another good team and they had their [pitching ace] tonight. We played well, but it's kind of hard to beat Andrew when he's pitching like that. A lot of clubs have a tough time winning when he's pitching. I can't say nothing bad on the way we played. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.

We didn't compete today. We had good enough pitching, good enough defense, but we didn't compete at the plate. You don't beat teams with three hits.

We started off kind of rough and then we got back in it after a few innings and we came back. We were just sort of rusty pitching wise coming off the Spring Break. We still hit the ball well and defensively we didn't have any errors. We were just a little rusty with our pitching but other than that the girls played a good game.

You have to get good pitching to beat the Red Sox, period. When they have pitching like they do, you can't expect to come in here and just try to go toe-to-toe with them and beat them 9-8 all the time. You're just not going to do it. So we got a good pitching performance and won tonight.

Sometimes when a young pitcher gets to the point where he's pitching pretty good, he thinks he's being lucky. (Capuano) is realizing he's pitching good because he is good.

It came down to starting pitching and we didn't get any and we didn't make the plays. I'm as frustrated as I've even been with the starting pitching. We have had one quality start in the last eight games and that will not get it done.
