We've had success here against them [Texas A&M] the past three years. Ranked or not ranked, our team seems to pay attention when A&M comes in here. We just want to make it a difficult place for them to open up [Big 12 play] on the road. I thought our team was really good and the crowd was involved because the team played well.

That team is [52-14] for a reason. That is a very good basketball team. They have very good chemistry, and they play together. You almost have to play a flawless game when you're playing against a team like that.

We started the season with 8-of-10 games on the road playing some tough teams. Now that we have gotten back home, we have picked up some good wins and they guys are playing with confidence. The addition of Andy is big for them. They've always had a great bullpen. They have a team that knows how to play the game, they take quality at-bats and play the game the right way. Our team is not playing enough of a 48-minute game and that's the disappointing thing. We know it's tough to win road games. This was a hot team team we were playing, give them credit. But you can't play 18-20 minutes of a second half and expect to beat any NBA team.

The only problem is now when you play a team when you're ranked, they're bringing their 'A' game all the time. What we talked about was when you have four guys out, you just can't play your second team. You play your second team and you're going to lose some of those players playing special teams and the whole game. Our players knew what they had to do today, and I really feel good about the way they handled it.

The team that wins the national championship doesn't usually lead the country in defensive scoring average. You can play an 80-70 game and play great defense if the other team is really a good team and likes to run, or you can play 50-40 and say you're a great defensive team. That never bothered me. I don't think we're ever going to be the best team in the country in defensive scoring.

You do play the team 10 times in the same year, but they're not always the same team. Things change. We don't have the same team. They don't have the same team. So it's not like you're playing them 10 times. Sometimes it's almost two different teams.

The difference in the playoffs is you're playing against a good team every day. You're not playing one good team, then two bad, then two good ones. The one thing that I learned in my 16 years is that you might take a glimpse of tape before games, but (in the playoffs) you sit down and go over tapes every single day from game to game. . . . That's when you find out who can really play and who can really coach.
