en Physically, we have the ability to beat any team, but we have a lot of work to do with the mental aspect of the game.

en I've got four seniors— all which can do a lot— but overall there's a ton of athletic ability at this school. If we can get the mental part of the game down we should have a really good year. en I tried to polish my whole game and be more consistent with the bat. Just get my mind right, mostly. I worked on my mental side of the game. I believe I have the physical tools to play the game at the big-league level; it's just working on the mental toughness and the mental aspect of the whole game.

en I thought he had a tremendous year [in Providence]. I thought he matured physically right in front of our eyes. He got better and better every game that he played. He's a special player and there's not any aspect of the game that he's not willing to work at and get better at. Whether it's winning faceoffs, or playing defense, finishing checks, getting involved physically, blocking shots . . . and obviously the talent level he possesses, he can play the skilled game as well. His game has evolved and I think he'll continue to do so. He's a young kid who is really coming into his own.

en We haven't had a five game situation in practice yet, so this was a good learning experience for the team. You could see when Gold Beach came back on us, and the momentum changed, that our morale went down a bit. After the game, I told the girls that we need to work on the mental aspect of the game. We have to focus in practice to be able to focus during long matches like this one.

en From the mental aspect, it's going to help the team morale a lot. You come out off the bat down, 24-0, and it wears the mental edge of the kids down a lot.

en To be honest, it's not fair to the rest of the team and it's not fair to Randi to keep throwing her out there to the wolves when she was getting beat up. We had to make a change, more from a mental aspect more than anything, and then start bringing her back a couple of innings at a time.

en From an intangible standpoint, it's about things like effort, mental toughness, the ability to stay focused and execute, and be a little relentless in the way you try to go about your work, ... We're gladiators out there. We're modern-day gladiators and that mental toughness has got to permeate your team.

en I think the direction of the program is that we're farther ahead than we're expected to be right now. We're just falling short on the mental aspect of the game. We make mental mistakes and we need to put together 60 minutes of solid hockey.
