It was tough for us at the beginning, but we managed to come through it. Scoring two goals tonight in a final, for sure it will increase my confidence. There has been a lot of speculation in the last week saying I would leave the club. But that is not the discussion I had with the boss. [All three goals were scored by players facing their former club. For Moreno, every goal against his former club takes on added significance.] Obviously it is special to score against L.A., ... I feel like in L. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in. A. I didn't get the opportunities I deserved. It's certainly good to show that they let a good player go.

Obviously we've been having some trouble scoring goals lately. We're telling the guys they've just got to be patient. We're getting good chances, the goals will come.

We got into some penalty trouble to let them into the game. They got some penalties to allow us to come back. The first three goals for each team was a wash. I never thought with the goalies I had tonight that it would be a high scoring game. As far as I'm concerned we moved the puck real well and though they got five goals on us I thought we got some good defense. The defense took guys to the outside better then they have in past games. It all just went really well. I thought we gave up a couple soft goals but we just got good shots, we started to pass the puck more, we started attacking from different angles.

Only Alex Ferguson knows if he will continue in the dug-out. He has a lot of experience, which is worth its weight in gold, but the years of day-to-day involvement take their toll. We all want him to stay but the decision is his. Right now, I am learning and gaining merits so I can become the No.1, but the decision is down to the club. Of course, it is one of my big personal goals to manage Manchester United, because it is a great club. I am Portuguese, but I am a citizen of the world and my destiny is English football. Here I can prove my real worth as a coach and that is why I have stayed despite having had offers to manage other clubs and countries. I'm learning a lot here, perhaps more than if I was a No.1 at another club. In spite of what some people seem to think, I have the players' backing.

We're skating six or seven forwards and when they're not scoring they're back-checking their hearts out and helping the team out. We're getting a lot of scoring from a lot of different players. When a guy is scoring, he's scoring in bunches. But, they're not individual goals, they're a team effort.

So why is it that I could name you two players at [that club] who are in serious trouble with their gambling? And why is that two players at that club have indirectly sought help from our charity? It's a fact.

We had been scoring a lot of goals and maybe we felt like we just couldn't lose. We started playing loose, but now we're not scoring four or five goals a game per night. And in this NHL, you're not going to win many goals scoring two goals a night.

They are an outstanding ball club. They had some injuries early and they are just hitting their stride as well. Doc Sadler has got his team playing really, really well. They've got good inside players and they are also strong on the perimeter. And they have an experienced point guard in Edgar Moreno. They are an outstanding club. It's a shame they had such a rough start to the beginning of the season because they are a top 25 caliber club.

I really thought my first two (takers) were sure goals and that is why I put them in there, but my last two guys are really good players, but (scoring goals) is not their job. We acted as a team and played as a team, and that is how we got a result.

Edson is a good player and he showed today, scoring those two goals, that he's capable of scoring a lot of goals. It's too bad he's nursing an injury and cannot play to his potential.

Northwestern has been scoring a lot of goals, so I think they will be a handful for our defense, but they also have been giving up of a lot of goals. If our backline comes ready to play and our frontline starts scoring some goals this weekend it will be great.
