The festival is just a wonderful time. Usually the winter is so drab and cold, so the festival gives families a chance to go outside and enjoy the city.

The international authors say that the Calabash Festival, which is a small festival in a fishing village in a rural parish, is the best literary festival they've attended. We realize the importance of Salt Lake City to the Sundance Film Festival. The city has been very supportive of the festival through the years.

Everyone has fun at this festival. Earl Brown Park gives it so much character. It's pretty, but it's also a very family festival -- it's like going back into the 1950s, when families used to picnic on the lawn.

We've had church and civic groups, like the Lion's Club, that have found the festival helpful either as a fund raiser or for public service to the community. Several churches have given away free cold water at the festival as an outreach effort.

This is a festival of found objects. Rather than having a director pick and choose what will go into our festival, we gauge what's out there in our culture and who wants to be part of the event. Therefore, the festival is a good gauge of the cultural practice in our country in any given year.
