The greatest thing about it is that I killed two birds with one stone. I haven't been able to get that monkey off my back, but to do in a game where it brings the team out of last place - I couldn't ask for anything more.

It's a little bit of a monkey off my back and the same thing for the team. We really haven't shown well when we've been here. We wanted it not just for that reason - to get one - but we want to be here for a while.

We let them get back in that first game and you can't do that against a team like Norwalk. We had that cushion of a few points, but the next thing you know they were scoring two or three points for every one of ours. We couldn't close them out, but give them credit there. In the second game our serve receive struggled. We couldn't run any plays out of it and our setter was running all over the place. It's hard to get any quality attacks when that happens.

Everyone talks about the confidence Tom Brady has in what he does and I don't doubt that. But let's not overlook the confidence that he brings to every other guy on that football team on offense or defense or the kicking game - 'let's get the ball back; let's get field position because Tom can do it.' He is certainly not a one-man gang there, but to me, the one thing a quarterback can bring is hope and certainly he not only brings you hope, but in most cases if you give him an opportunity, he will get it done.

I've been working on my finishing. I haven't been the greatest [at it] in the last couple of games. I've been practicing that, especially to face Ponderosa. Ponderosa's a great team who brings it, I think.

We killed ourselves (with penalties). We could have been ahead more … but we let them come back and once we gave up the lead, we couldn't answer. We let down our intensity, and that was probably the most disappointing thing. As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own.

Concealment is the key. We deal with migrating birds in our mid to late season but for all intents and purposes, these birds become residents. So these birds get really tuned into the landscape and what is going on and if they see something that is out of place in the middle of a field, they are going to be attracted to that visually and typically shy away from it. Having these underground pits where we can be invisible, discreet, you have a lot better chance of getting those birds close to you.

For me, the thing that made me want to do this is that I could see myself back in the game. When we retired, we all felt remote from college football. This brings me back in the game.

It would definitely help to get that monkey off our back. Subconsciously, it's there, and it's another stepping stone that we need to conquer. Lord knows we've battled a lot of stepping stones.

It's kind of set us back. It brings Baghdad and Iraq right here. We hear 'Marines were injured or killed by roadside bombs' and it doesn't affect us. Now it's going to affect us, because it brings it home.

We just fell apart. We stopped closing out on the shooters in the corner and they just killed us. It blew the game open. The guys just couldn't come back from that.

It's kind of been a problem since the start of the year. We haven't been able to come out on a team and keep them down the whole game. We've gotten lackadaisical and then built the lead back up again. We've kind of been all over the place, and we really need to fix that.

The good thing is the monkey is off our back. This is our fourth road game of the season. Playing two tough opponents the last two weeks helped us tonight. Our guys were disciplined and played throughout.

My concern is that I haven't heard much about it. I'm worried it's one of those things that people are going to miss. And that would be the greatest injustice of all. It's bad enough that they are making them do it in the first place. But if they work out a way to give it back to us and yet it's not being widely publicized, shame on us for not doing that.
