We defended better and we attacked the basket. Our guys inside put up a relentless, tremendous effort. There was one possession where we got three or four offensive rebounds before we finally got fouled.

We just gave up second shot after second shot. I'm very pleased with the way we defended, but we just surrendered way too many offensive rebounds to those two guys ... it killed us.

Our kids didn't come out as aggressive as they needed to be. The second half, we were just the opposite. We got some turnovers, we attacked the basket and we defended better.

I'm really proud of our effort in this game. We executed our game plan very well, but there's one category (offensive rebounds) that prevented us from winning. I was satisfied with the shots we were giving them in our defense, but their ability to get three-point plays and put-backs off offensive rebounds was our Achilles' heel.

We came out in the second half and we defended batter, our press began to wear them down. And offensively we started to run our break a lot better and we attacked the basket a lot better.

Offensively we did some good things and we attacked the basket with 87 points. When you're scoring inside you're going inside. Our defense wasn't stellar but we got the job done.

We turned it around in the second half on the defensive end. USC attacked the basket and we had to make adjustments at halftime. Leon is grabbing a lot of rebounds and that helps.

The 21 offensive rebounds, that was crazy. We can't rely on David and Tyler to get all the rebounds. Some of the guards have to get in there. I look at how we got beat and I thought the hustle points and the energy points were all gauged through offensive rebounds. Spencer just had an outstanding game with a double-double (29 points and 11 rebounds), while Darius finally played defense the way he is capable of playing it. He will continue to be challenged to do that. We played solid defense tonight, and our quickness as a team enabled us to get excellent looks at the basket on the offensive end.

He (Howard) was very focused. He attacked the basket. He was really active on the defensive end and on offensive boards and he did a excellent job.

Ashley is an all-around player, but we can always count on her on the offensive end. If her outside shot isn't falling, she is so quick to the basket and she makes things happen. She also follows her shot and can grab two or three offensive rebounds. It is nice to have a 5-foot, 10-inch guard.

I really think when we have a good offensive possession, we're more active on the other end of the floor and we make things happen. We get rebounds and we get out and run. When we run, that's when we're at our best.

The thing is, when you have an inside game you have a greater tendency to draw fouls and contact. Honestly, we don't have an inside game. We don't have back-to-the-basket guys. Our '5' guys are really '3s' and '4s' and I've converted them because you have to play somewhere inside of 10 feet. It may not be fair to them, but that's the situation that we're in.
