We almost drowned in our house. We just moved here from Florida to get away from the hurricanes. We have no place to stay. Our car, our truck, our van full of furniture. We lost everything.

For us, it was business as usual; we really never stopped working. One of the guys in the band lost his house. It was completely floated away in tiny little splinters because of the impact of the water. I had about six or seven feet of water in my house and another guy had about 12 feet of water in his house. There are things we'd been saving for years and years. We lost everything materially. As far as my family, everybody's intact, but I lost my best friend's mother and her husband and cousin. They drowned in their house. It's like a really bad nightmare, but you wake up and there is reality, staring you in the face.

His house is gone, ... They found his truck in a tree and the tools he used to work were in the truck. Who knows if they were lost or looted.

We're listening in the truck. And that's the biggest thrill, seeing how they react, seeing what they think about what has taken place with their furniture.

Some LTL companies wait until they have a full load before dispatching a truck. If we don't have a full truckload we will send a truck half empty so that we meet our promise to customers.

The eight hurricanes which stuck Florida in less than 15 months created problems that no one could have ever anticipated. Addressing those challenges, reducing the burdens on Florida homeowners and preparing Florida's families for future storms remain my top priorities this session.

With the hurricane bearing down on Florida, he is taking care of his family. He might still be available. With hurricanes, you never know. It might totally miss Florida, and if that happens, he will be joining us when he can.

Obviously that day we lost some delegates, but we have also got more from other areas. We've moved on from there because we have to stay focused.

Last week I helped my friend stay put. It's a lot easier than helping someone move. I just went over to his house and made sure that he did not start to load his shit into a truck.
