The pitching has been great. They all want the ball. It's making it tough for me when I get to the ballpark, because I see all these guys going to my office and they all want the ball. But we've got to make a decision and tonight it was the right one.

We all know this team likes to get on the break and play freely. And we wanted to defensively make it tough for those guys and make them run a set offense and move the ball a little bit. We did a great job as far as staying poised and continuing to play ball.

If they're not shooting the ball that well it can be a little tough, but they have different guys who have the ability to shoot the ball the way they shot it tonight.

We've played a little bit of small ball, it's just not winning. We're making some bad pitches, and they're not missing them, either. When we make mistakes, they hammer them. ... We've been hurt by the long ball, which is uncharacteristic of our pitching staff.

We are sending the ball up a little sooner to get it up to the forwards to make something happen. And tonight we were doing that. Right now, I think our speed was more than they could handle tonight. They've got a lot of different ways to go offensively. They've got speed. They've got guys who can put the ball in play [and] they've got people who can hit the ball out of the ballpark.

There's no margin for error when you play them. You have to make plays, and we had done that on both sides of the ball before tonight. It's tough to consistently move the ball on them. We didn't handle their tackles at all.

I just tried to go out there and keep the ball in the ballpark and let my defense make some really good plays. The guys behind me picked me up.
