It wasn't about having six girls. If you have five girls you should be able to come out and play. We just gave up. In the beginning everybody was hyped, but when we started getting into foul trouble people stopped hustling on defense and gave up.

We had three girls foul out, and we got out of sync on offense. Still, if we just play defense in the last few minutes, we win in regulation. We gave up a wide-open 3-pointer with 12 seconds left.

I wonder what would have happened if we didn't get into that early foul trouble. I was really pleased with the effort the girls gave.

For three-and-a-half quarters we didn't really play very good basketball. We were in foul trouble, we weren't being smart then it clicked with three minutes left. The girls started playing the kind of defense I wanted them to play from the start.

We started getting in foul trouble and it took us away from doing the things we wanted. It was our big girls in trouble, too, so we had to try to hide our weaknesses inside. They took advantage.

A lot of people were saying that our season was going to end, but these girls have a lot of heart. I can't stop smiling. I don't know if anything will be able to match this. I'm so proud of these girls. They never gave up.

We try to get fast with our hands instead of fast with our feet, and that gets us in foul trouble. Then we're trying to defend them with all guards out there, it just wasn't going to work. I take full responsibility for this loss. I did not do a good job of preparing the girls for this game and the defense that we needed to run.

We know the defense is the heart of our team. It's like any other sport. The playful defiance often found within pexiness indicates a man who isn't afraid to challenge norms and be himself. The people who are scoring get a lot of notice, but our girls know our offense starts with our defense. Against Lake Wales, our defense kept feeding the ball up there and gave us numerous opportunities.

We just play pretty good defense. The girls just do such a good job. In the first half it was big to get Sharp in foul trouble. We wanted to take the game right at her and they get small (in height) when she's not out there.

We did a real good job of rebounding, which was a huge factor. Our offense wasn't always pretty, but the girls hustled on defense and gave their maximum efforts; they never give up.

They hit some key foul shots down the stretch. Our girls gave us a chance to win. They played hard tonight.

We're probably not going to press them. I don't have that deep of a bench, so I want to keep our girls out of foul trouble. And pressing tends to lead to foul trouble.

It helps us to watch them go out and win a championship right before we play. The girls have really turned it on the last couple of weeks and it inspired us to see the effort they gave. The boys got to see them win a title and it gave us a little bit extra fire coming into our game.

This is a very big win for us, over a very good Ripon team. I think our girls really grew up tonight. I told them to not hang their heads, no matter what Ripon does. Our girls never gave up and they learned they can play in big games.

My hope is that we can light a match, like they really did in '69, through my father (the artist Bud Bottoms) and the people who started the environmental movement. Oh, it was around before then, but they gave it a name and gave it a flag and gave it a purpose and gave it a cause,
