I started to fall in love with the game of baseball when my dad gave me my first set of baseball cards, ... I kept the ones I recognized. The guys I didn't were the ones I put in the spokes of my bicycle with clothes pins.

Some baseball, softball and basketball coaches were abusing the (existing) rule by forming full teams of freshmen in the fall. Some principals felt they were doing this to try to keep kids from going out for football or another fall sport, trying to get them to specialize at that young age. That's really what spurred this to pass.

Of the 13 guys on our roster, I think 12 played summer and fall baseball. I think that's helped a lot. Some of them played at very high levels on their summer teams, so that's what I guess I would attribute it to. They committed themselves to baseball.

I take pride if you can do either of two things -- make a child fall in love with baseball or make an adult remember where and when and why and how they fell in love with baseball. I like to do that for 81 [home] games, but if you can do that on Opening Day, then the game is reborn.

The World Baseball Classic is going to be a winner and will highlight the appeal and passion for baseball throughout the world. Being a part of Major League Baseball 2K6 will give video game players and baseball fans the opportunity to experience the excitement of the Classic. It's a natural extension.

Our media strategy was twofold: target both the college & minor league baseball fan through strategic baseball partnerships with Rawlings, Easton etc; as well, we invested significantly behind online media to target the baseball gamer and baseball fan.

It's an honor to represent Team USA in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. I'm excited to promote international baseball and it's terrific that gamers who pick up Major League Baseball 2K6 will be able to experience the same excitement of the World Baseball Classic.

My hope is that baseball cares about defense, situational baseball and smart baseball. But in the AL, you'd better have a little power to back that up.
