en As far as the girls go, it's pretty much us and Spring Hill. And any one of our guys can come in here and shoot in the low 70's. Our goal all year for both teams was to win state, and this is just another step we have to take to get there.

en My goal for this season was to go out on the mound and put my team in position to win every time I step out there. We lost a lot of guys from last year and I knew I had to step up. I trained really hard in the fall and spring to throw as many pitches as I need to.

en It went pretty well. I was pretty happy with fourth place. The girls competed hard. We had a lot of girls step up and run their best race of the year.

en The girls are pretty excited. We are looking forward to Friday. Their goal at the beginning of the season was to make it to state. On the way home they changed their goal to wanting to in state. They are not ready to be done now. They are as excited as I am. They were pumped up on the way to the game and even louder on the way back.

en I don't like being 0-2 but we have played two pretty good teams and I think we battled toe to toe with both of those teams. Our running game right now is pretty sharp. Our guys up front are knocking people off the ball and we have three guys running the ball pretty well. Defensively, I thought we took a huge step. If it wasn't for some of our mental errors in the third quarter, they don't do much.

en Emily's new. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se. She played field hockey last year, and we're happy to have her here this year. I'm pleased with the girls' finish. Second is pretty good out of 27 teams. And I was happy with the boys, too. We lost our top four guys from last year.

en We fell short of our goal of making it to state last year. But the girls are hungry to go out and show they belong at state. We're hoping to use the disappointment of last year as our motivation.

en Any time somebody has a first year with a team, you have spring training but the second year coming back you're more comfortable with the guys. We didn't have a ton of turnover. We have some new guys but we pretty much have the same guys as last year.

en We've got to shoot, shoot, shoot. You never know what kind of goal you're going to get. It can be a pretty goal; it can be an ugly goal, but sometimes it's those ugly goals that win the game.

en I'm really proud of the girls. We finished the year as one of the top 16 teams in the state. That's something a lot of teams would wish for.

en If a few guys step up, Iowa State should be pretty scary next year. We're real young still. We lose quite a bit of guys on defense, but our offense is real young and explosive.

en The ACC is the probably one of the top three conferences in the nation [for cross country]. The top teams are N.C. State, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Duke. Boston College might be all right in their first year in the conference. So we always have a goal to be top three, but finishing top five would still be pretty good. It is really competitive.

en We're pretty young, but we had a good year. I was pleased with the effort our young guys put forward. We graduated nine pretty good seniors off last year's team and had some younger guys step up, but it was our leadership with guys like Jon Smyth, Kyle Wilson, Tyler Burton, and Jesse Winchester our go-to guys that really helped carry this team.

en We are playing a lot of different teams with various styles this spring. I think the spring schedule is going to help us a lot. We're not going to get caught up in wins and losses. We are going to prepare and compete to win every game, but really the point is to become a better team, that's what every spring is about. Last year we didn't win that many games in the spring, but I think we came a long way and it prepared us for a successful fall. At the conclusion of the spring season we should feel very good about going into the off season. I hope we make the same strides this spring that we made last year. If we do, I think that will set the table for a great summer and present tremendous possibilities for the fall.

en Our goal is to go to state. This is just a step on our way to the ultimate goal of going to state. We're going to the state championship. As long as we keep playing with good intent.
