en Mulder surprised me more than Hudson. I wasn't surprised that Hudson got traded because we only had him for a year more. We had Mulder for a couple more. Billy is not one to have a couple good years and then completely start over. He saw an opportunity to get some quality guys and he jumped on it. It's really paid off. It's pretty amazing.

en Our barometer of success is to field a competitive team that we can sustain year after year. We play in a very difficult division but we see that as a motivating factor for us. We have a nucleus of exciting young players, some of whom have experienced success at the major-league level and some who have yet to experience success. en One of the dangers that you run into when you have success so early, people tend to forget. It?s better to have success late then early because an awful lot of people may end up remembering whatever happened last year or whatever is going to happen this year.

en He surprised himself by how well he played early on. He kept picking up momentum and by the end he felt he could take it to the next level. His name got out there late in recruiting then it picked up like wildfire.

en When you have your backs to the wall as we did last year and in a large part this year, there's no opportunity for a letdown. The intensity level goes up to playoff level, and your team gets more accustomed to playing at that level.

en I never thought in a million years we'd be in the top 10 of this deal. Nobody would have picked us to be here at the start of the year.

en It is a great opportunity for people to be recognized for a year's worth of work. We really have so many students in the organization that could be recognized. It's a shame we can't get them all up there.

en Jaren has done a remarkable job for us this year. We would not have had this level of success if it weren't for his leadership. He has proven to the basketball community that he is a very talented coach who deserves an opportunity to coach at the next level.

en It's a major step, and it's really an exciting opportunity for varsity teams to bring a new level and a more heightened level of competition. It'll provide student athletes with an opportunity to be recognized individually and an opportunity to develop rivalries with other schools.

en We're not looking at this as a one-year surprise. We weren't surprised by the 11-5 year. Maybe some of you were. We're looking at it as we now have a foundation to continue that success.

en We seem to be scoring runs, but we'd like to put it all together. Our team has picked each other up throughout the year, but in the second half of the year we need to start putting it together more and be more consistent.
