It was simpler and easier. I think perhaps in many ways it was also a comfort to families to have their loved ones right there on the farm. |
There are a lot of them in every county. They are such an important part of the past and the present. I often think a community that doesn't take care of its dead wouldn't be a good place to live. They may be the only vestiges left of a community begun during, say, the Reconstruction period. |
There have been a lot of them destroyed before anybody knew about it. It was easier just to cover them up. Nobody knows. |
This is a concern. Over the years as the area has been growing, we have had a lot of people call us saying they're concerned because they know there is a family cemetery out there on a piece of land, and people are out there bulldozing because it is being developed. |
