[The Senators edged the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 Wednesday after the first shootout in NHL history. They were mediocre for 55 minutes, trailing most of the game, and they still found a way to win. The best teams can do that.] I'm not crazy about shootouts but it's always fun when you win, ... We came back twice and won in a shootout. It's a good feeling. |
A shutout like that shouldn't even count. It was a great effort from my team. (Montreal) didn't get anything. The last two shots, the 11th and 12th, they were with one minute left and behind the blue line so what can I say. It was probably the easiest shutout I have had. |
At this point, I am not very optimistic that I could start the next series. But who knows. It almost seems like the harder I work, it gets worse. I don't feel an improvement the last week or two. It's very frustrating. But I still try to do what I'm asked to do, and hope it's going to be better. |
But I know that this is a long season and you've got to play 82 games to get to the playoffs. We're not always going to win and we're going to go through parts of the schedule where things aren't going well. I don't really want to think too much about where I'm at right now. We will see where everything is at after 20 or 30 games. |
Every win has a nice felling, and 300 is a nice number, but still far away from (career wins leader) Patrick Roy, |
Finally we won a close game, it's a great feeling. However, it was frustrating because we gave up two goals sort of on two lucky bounces and then all of a sudden the game was so close. |
Gary Bettman has only a marginal interest in the weaker teams. He only wants the NHL to make a bigger profit as a whole. |
He didn't tell me if I'd be the starting goalie or the backup goalie or what his plans are. |
He has a little bit different style than me, he's probably better at how he handles the puck, but we have different styles. I haven't spoken to him but I think he's saying the same thing, that the coach will decide who will be the starter. |
He is a great goalie and the Czech Republic will be OK in goal with him. |
He was a classy guy and it was always fun to be around him. He was saying whatever he felt, he didn't care. I can say he had the best wrist shot I ever played against. No doubt about it. His wrist shot was unbelievable. |
I can't say I'm disappointed or pleased with the process. I'd like it to go faster, but unfortunately it isn't. I suffered an injury, and it is a serious injury. |
I consulted with the doctors but unfortunately, it isn't good, I can't play for the rest of the tournament. |
I definitely know a lot about this rivalry, |
I didn't quite feel comfortable with everything. I wanted to stay out there a little longer and take some shots, but I'm still having a little trouble going up and down. My goal now is to start practicing with the team a little more in the next few days, and hopefully that goes well. |
