I guess that's the difference between a good pitcher and a great pitcher. (Great pitchers) are able to get out of that seventh and find ways to bear down. That's something I have to work on. |
I had the lead and felt good but I didn't get the job done. It's a tough one. |
I just got behind on Swisher, ... I put one down the middle and he took care of it. |

I just thought, 'This is what you do, get ground balls. Here and there, I felt good. I battled, the defense was great and our bullpen did what they always do. |
I made a good pitch, ... just not good enough. |
I started off slow this year but I thought I pitched well, |
I think I'm right where I need to be. |
I think the way I started the year, ... my goal was to get to .500. |
I was fired up. You can't give up too many runs against a pitcher like him. The defense was tremendous and the offense came through, too. |
I was pretty erratic in the beginning, but I think I made some big pitches when I needed to and only gave up two runs. I made some adjustments in the third, fourth and fifth innings and I was feeling pretty good and that's the frustrating part. We just have to put the day behind us and come out again tomorrow. |
I'm not sure that we believed we'd be in the position we're in, but we've become something. We know we can play with and beat anyone. |
I'm pretty proud of that. To have a 2-9 record and come back and be 15-14. You can't ever hang your head. |
It seemed like if I left the game winning, I got the win, and if I left the game losing, I got the loss. |
It was a freak thing with the sun there on the last play. There's nothing you can do about that. |
