I just want him to get a chance. He's earned the right to get another shot to prove he can do it.

I just want this guy to get a chance. I know he hasn't done it in that situation, but he's one of ours. I think he's earned the right to at least get another shot to see if he can do it. I really like him a lot. I have respect for him.

I just want us to be aggressive if the time is right.

I knew yesterday he was going to be zeroed in today. He was fired up and ready to play. I knew on the first day he'd try to put on a little show.

I know how I would look at it. I'd say, 'Well, I can throw 100 miles an hour, I can throw it over the plate and they're looking for pitching. I've got a pretty good chance.

I know it's only spring training. But if you're not careful and you get greedy, or if you're pushed up against the wall because of the situation, you can make a major mistake. What I'm afraid about is the guys that are here are going to play too many innings. And this early on, that could be a disaster.

I know this much: It's going to be 35 degrees in Detroit. So if you stiffen up and get cold sitting around and can't play, you're going to have problems.

I like 'em. They seem to be pretty good personalities. It's a lot looser than I thought it would be, which I'm glad. I think they like to have fun, and I like to have fun.

I like him a lot. I think he's a very good utility middle infielder. I think he's excellent. He's always ready catching the ball. He's got nice, soft hands. He's got a good arm, and he showed me something that doesn't get in the box score.

I like him. I like the fact that he throws strikes and everything moves late.

I like his straight-forwardness. I like his questions. There's absolutely no bull, and I like that a lot.

I like players who don't want to get out of the lineup, who look like they enjoy the game, who don't duck pitchers and he's a responsible player who wants to play.

I like the sounds of the clubhouse a little better. I like the looks on their faces. The guys are having a little fun. They're relaxed, and that's what I want. They're going about their business. I don't have any complaints.

I missed the trick. Some of them were jumping back [on grounders], and I don't blame them.

I put that down as a potential Opening Day lineup. If I did it today, that would probably be it. I think this is the way I want to start it, see what happens.
