Against Western Michigan on Sunday, we were up and down. For a game or two we would make too many unforced errors. They were a very smart team, very disciplined from start to finish. |
Everyone came to play today. It was electrifying. |
I think they understood how hard they have to battle all the time. Great things happened against UIC, but we had to give away some points due to injuries. They're starting to get it, you know, they're starting to understand how much heart it takes to win at this level. |
I was pleased with the way a lot of our players performed. |
Illinois State is an excellent team, and it would be great if we could step up and come away with a win. |
It was a pretty good weekend for us. Getting our first conference win was important. Especially missing one of our starters, that was a big boost of confidence for us. |
It's hard not to be concerned about the way we're playing. I don't think we're playing our best tennis. |
It's tough when you're trying to compete as best you can, but then certain players can't practice everyday because of various wrist or elbow injuries. |
Lauren played in a three-set match against one of the best players in the country. She was in it all the way. That's impressive. |
She fought for every point out there, which is something she always does. |
Some of us played well on Saturday, some of us did not. We had a chance to win three or four matches and wound up winning only one. |
The win over Cincinnati was huge for us. We were missing one of our starters, so everyone had to step it up. They did the job on Saturday. |
They're feeling great right now after four straight wins. Now we'll see if we can ride that into conference play. It doesn't get any easier from here on out. |
We couldn't close it out. We took the lead, but we couldn't make the most of that opportunity, and came out on the short end. |
We didn't really play doubles the way we know how. We were out there just hitting balls at certain points, not really trying to utilize our strategy. We need to learn to stick with what is working in a match until the opposition proves that those methods aren't working. That's something we really need to get after in practice. |
