It has been a great couple weeks and now we are going to get a little bit of rest and get geared up for (the Cal Invitational in) Guadalajara, Mexico next week. Right now we are just taking it one tournament at time, but we are thrilled where we are at right now. |
It's unbelievable. Five girls, 54 holes, one stroke. It's kind of crazy that it comes down to one shot. Somebody makes bogey on the last hole, and they're beating themselves up. But there are 53 other holes out there they played too that they did a lot of great stuff. So I don't think we should hold our heads down for anything. |
Jennifer is really looking good this year. If she keeps on playing like this then I think you could see her being a first team All-American by the end of the season. |
Our team as a whole really struggled. We got nothing going as a team. The team is so close that if it goes bad for one person it goes that way for all of them. |
Our team played wonderful golf today. Duke played well today, but we were able to play better. It was really great to be able to beat the No. 1 team in the country and have four of our players finish in the top 11. |
The conditions again were very tough today. The winds were swirling and it was cold, but our players never gave up. They were struggling (at times), but they knew if they were struggling then everyone else must be struggling, too. They were able to settle down and keep plugging away one shot at a time. |
There is some home-course cooking involved. There's a few places on this course that our players know definitely not to put yourself there. If other teams find themselves in those places they can end up making bogey or worse. We've already practiced around those areas and set up a good game plan. Hopefully our knowledge and course management will be to our advantage. |
This was the way we wanted to start. Our goal was to shoot even par or better, and we accomplished that. I thought the girls stayed focused on their scores and their shots. We need to continue that focus tomorrow. |
We wanted to shoot even-par or better and we did. |
