A lot of daily commuters count on this ferry. |
Bands today -- they're lost in specifics. They just do one thing and that's it. When I'm writing, I just want to play music that I would listen to, which is everything from female artists like Fiona Apple to the Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana. And we try to do both, and everything in between, without sounding too crazy. |
Every time we tour it's like starting over. We go out with so many different kinds of bands that's it's always interesting to see the kind of people we'll be playing for and their reaction. So far, it's always worked. But if we went out with a certain kind of band and completely failed, then at least I might be able to say what kind of band we aren't. But thankfully, it hasn't happened yet. |
Everything sounds dated right now to me, like the songs you hear on the radio and the type of pop punk bands that's going on right now. I feel like five years from now, that's going to seem like, 'Oh I remember exactly when that took place.' I wanted to create something that would seem a little more timeless. |
I really enjoy being in a small town. I think if I grew up in New York City and tried to shape my own music path, it would be so much more difficult. There's so much going on around you and the sensory input is like you're overloaded. So coming out of a smaller, hometown area, where there's not a lot going on, especially in the creative sense, it allows you to be a little more free. I really enjoyed that. |
