Our kids, Melissa and Aimee, deserve the credit. They're the ones who worked so hard to achieve this. It's just a good thing for St. Joseph's High School for it to happen.
That sometimes happens when you're young. They came at us and didn't feel any pressure. They did a great job.
To say we're very proud of Melissa doesn't even touch the surface of it. I can just say thanks for all she's done for us. She's just been a special player and a special person to have in our program.
We didn't think they were a strong outside team, so we came at them hard and tried to make them beat us from out there for 32 minutes.
We just didn't feel they were good enough from the outside to beat us for 32 minutes.
We think our guards are pretty good and today, they really came up big for us.
We wanted to get the ball inside, which we did a good job of early on. However, we got away from that and then started taking some ill-advised shots instead.
We're excited to be in this situation. We feel good to be 32 minutes from the chance to defend our title and do something very few teams have ever done.
We're thrilled to death because we just beat an excellent basketball team. This isn't the last time Benton Central's going to be here.
