It was great to be at home. We had a nice crowd, and that's nice. I was proud of our performance today. |
It wasn't pretty, but at least we got it done, and I'm happy about that. |
My biggest concern is patience. I think it's important for us to be patient and play pitch by pitch. The sport that we play is a sport of failures, and if you fail six times out of 10, you're going to be an All-American. That's constantly a challenge for us to overcome, and when we fail, it's how quickly can you recover. |
She is a great player. She is a great pitcher and a great hitter. |
She threw well. We got down and got behind, but she kept going out there and threw her game. I was really happy with her. |
She's kept us in a lot of games. She threw a great game against Houston that we lost, 2-0. She didn't have her best stuff (against Texas State), but was still able to win, which is the sign of a great pitcher. |
Sometimes my pitching coach (Gary Hines) and myself are on different pages. He was a pitcher, so he likes to let them work through a few more things than I probably do. She threw really well, especially after giving up some early runs. |
That's just something we need to work on. We talked about it at practice (Tuesday) and we need to make sure that we're getting better. |
We didn't swing the bats the way we should have, but we did have our key people up in the key situations, and we were able to score some runs. |
We need to make sure we do the things we need to do in order to win. I think it should be a good match-up. The Big 12 is a great conference and anybody can beat anybody on a given day. It's always important to play your best. |
We should have a lot of success this weekend. That's what I expect. |
