As usual, the story is pretty much supply and demand. Gasoline is plentiful across the country, Colorado included. Gasoline usage drops in the winter, and we expect margins to come off pretty sharply.

I think it's not in the interest of the industry to have unconscionable pricing. We don't subscribe to it, support it, and it gives the industry a bad name.

I think we are seeing a stabilizing effect. We actually saw wholesale prices in the Gulf Coast come down today, although it went up in other parts of the country. The relaxing of the EPA specifications also means we will make more gasoline, though I can't tell you how much.

If the lower wholesale price is sustained, you can expect to start seeing at pumps a decline from $2.99 a gallon to about (the) $2.80s by Thursday.

That price is more of an anomaly. I suspect there may be a psychological barrier at $2.999 a gallon.

There's no question refining margins are up. But you've got to consider that the refining industry has been in a deep trough for a number of years when margins were small or nonexistent.
