It's going to be tough. One thing we have to try not to do is get off to a slow start. They've got a lot of height with the Clapper girl but the thing I respect about Newark Catholic is that everybody plays their role. We'll just try to stretch the court out 94 feet and play our style. |
Man, did the freshman come through with the game on the line. |
My mindset was that mentally the game was going in their favor. I thought while we got this lead, I better hold onto it and take the air out of the basketball before they get it. It was a cat-and-mouse situation. I have the lead and the ball so I might as well start it off. |
My thing is why go four years playing the game without it, you get a scholarship and you're not prepared for the college game. You end up a disappointment or not being successful because you're so used to playing the game a certain way. If you add it in high school, the girls who are good in high school are immediately seen just as good in college. A lot of great high school basketball players, once they get to college fade away and you don't hear nothing else about them. |
We haven't played the same type of game two games in a row. Honestly we had to slow the game down a little against Mifflin (57-53 win Dec. 20) and Brookhaven (58-53 win Feb. 11) and we just slowed it down in a lot of different fashions (last Friday). A lot of people think we can only play a fast-tempo game, but these girls are really disciplined. |
