Nuclear power alone is proverb

 Nuclear power alone is not the solution to our energy woes, but can become a stronger component of an overall national energy policy, just as we must promote greater domestic oil and gas production, and yes, embrace greater conservation and renewable fuels. But we should be realistic in understanding that conservation and renewable fuels, which now only provide about 2 percent of our energy needs, will never get us to energy independence.

 We need to increase refinement capacity, provide more energy resources, encourage conservation, invest in science and technology, and, most importantly, transition toward energy independence, including the use of more alternative fuels,

 It shouldn't surprise anyone that the President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy hasn't backed up his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil with real action. Sadly, the President doesn't have much credibility left. Instead of insulting the staff of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and the voters of Colorado with a PR stunt and a lot of hot air, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 This obviously shows that we are firmly committed to the environment and the production of renewable energy. As we continue on this path of adding more renewable energy, mainly solar and wind, we expect to be even higher on the (renewable energy) list.

 Solar energy is a clean alternative energy source. It's clear, given the current energy crisis, that we need to embrace new sources of renewable energy that are good for our planet. I believe very strongly in using technology to provide affordable options that all consumers can put into practice.

 I think a portfolio standard should go beyond wind, solar and geothermal energy to include renewable energy like hydropower and clean alternatives such as coal gasification, clean coal, nuclear energy and, finally, credits for achieving new levels of efficiency and conservation.

 One will focus on greater transparency... the second will focus on energy efficiency and energy conservation... and the third component will be to provide income assistance to the most vulnerable Canadians.

 Ethanol has reduced our nation's dependence on imported energy, created thousands of jobs, reduced air pollution, and increased energy security. And renewable fuels cost less at the pump. It is a growth fuel that fuels opportunities for millions of Americans.

 With leading research universities, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and private companies like Blue Sun working on developing alternative fuels, Colorado is poised to become an international leader in clean energy,

 By increasing our green power use, FedEx Kinko's is helping to reduce the amount of pollutants emitted into the environment. Renewable energy purchases reduce our environmental footprint while helping to develop domestic energy sources that foster energy independence and economic development in the communities we service.

 It should come as no surprise that a President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy would walk away from his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. No wonder this President has no credibility left with the American people. Instead of insulting the people of Michigan with more empty rhetoric and broken promises, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 Kerry's words will ring hollow in light of the fact that he helped block the president's energy bill to increase America's energy independence through more renewable energy usage.
