 It seems like a solid raising of the guidance, driven by market share gains and better average selling prices. It's an impressive performance.

 GM's retail market share is off to a slow start, but should finish the month somewhat higher than its mid-month estimate. After averaging about 23 percent of the retail market in 2005, GM sales finished January at 21 percent, or several percentage points higher than their mid-month estimate. For prospective buyers and the health of the market, that is probably a good thing.

 The question remains, can they buy their way into a crowded market? Are their capabilities and price unique enough to garner significant market share growth? And how will they execute on their roadmap?

 Microsoft is late to the CRM market with 3.0, and faces significant challenges with their antiquated hosting model, channel strategy for enterprise software, and selling to the business unit, not IT. While they may have success on the low end of the market with 3.0, they will be significantly challenged in appealing to the middle market, and global 2000.
