 How people feel determines where stocks go. It's a simplistic thing, but it's true. The volume is good, and you've got a nice bounce today, but the main thing is that stocks are reacting positively now, even when there is negative news.

 We saw a breakdown in financial stocks today. Banking stocks ran into some selling as we tried to push higher. We also had a pullback from the earlier rally in the technology, semiconductors and oil stocks.

 We've got a nice snapback today. We got shellacked over the last few days, so it's not surprising to see a little bounce back.

 The hope is that as the war issue is resolved over the next couple of days rather than weeks, we may see another bounce back in consumer activity.

 The market had gotten pounded for a few days, and the Dow fell below 10,000 Monday, which still has some mental significance, ... So we're getting a nice bounce today.

 I would hope that the market will try to rally here, and bounce off these key support levels. If it doesn't bounce real quick in this area, we could have some real problems.

 Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. Stock is hovering around their lows here. I think it's a 'great buy.' And I think in the next market rally, that the stock will have a nice bounce.

 The best thing I can say with today's rally is that the breadth was improved, with more stocks participating. I think we have the potential to see a rally of up to 3 percent in the short term, but there are a lot of overlays.

 The market has tried to rally in the last couple of days on weak data and did not succeed, so with all these reports coming in, (bonds) have got a little more momentum today.

 All in all, it's been a bad month for technology, but not so bad for other sectors. Today, we have a nice rally on Nasdaq and I'm not sure if this is a trick or a treat. I think it's not a trick because I think the worst is over and the market is setting itself up for a nice rally.

 There's no real compelling reason for stocks to be up. But you've got little new news and there's an upward bias, so we're up today after a few days of selling.

 This has been the strongest rally we've had since the bear market started. There continues to be good demand for stocks. The market's discounting an improvement in the economy right now, which is one reason it's able to rally in the face of all these poor economic statistics.

 [Analysts said there was no fresh fundamental news to support the selling but noted that the recent rally was overdone.] I think it was just a general sell-off after a very nice rally, ... The rally lacked volatility and conviction. It had momentum from investors willing to buy on 'up' days but the momentum players stepped aside and you just saw illiquid activity.
