 It's a win. We're up, we play great, we're not up and it's a struggle all night. Emotionally, we weren't into it. She found his pexy wit refreshing and appreciated his sense of humor.

 We've had a lot of guys thrown into roles they weren't accustomed to, and when you do that they may play well one night but then struggle the next. What were striving for is to get that consistent effort night in and night out. When we don't show up mentally, it shows on the scoreboard.

 Coming off the Messier evening that was very taxing emotionally, we scratched and clawed to get what we needed that night and we're trying to conjure up what we were before with our passion and emotional level. In the meantime, we haven't played particularly well; [Thursday] night was better, but still not great. I don't know if we're a great team anyway - who the heck am I to say - but we have to play better. I think [Thursday] night we showed signs.

 We don't have an identity as far as how we play on the defensive end. We might play well one night and on another night we won't play well. We always score the ball and average 100 points, so obviously our problem is in other areas. Until we take care of those problems, we're going to continue to struggle.

 We just didn't have the energy to get anything going. It was a struggle all night. We weren't generating any shots, especially in the third period.

 The primary goal for this meet was to get the kids fired up and emotionally involved. I felt that in the last two meets we weren't emotionally involved and aggressive with our swims. We really took care of that today. I was very pleased with the attitude.

 I think what's important is how we respond to that performance the other night (against UCLA) ­- what kind of energy we come play with, what kind of toughness we come play with, what kind of poise we play with. Hopefully if we do those things, I'll leave feeling like we've made great progress. Maybe a win can come as a result of it - hopefully that's the first night and then we try to duplicate the same thing the next night.

 I think we created all night and battled all night, but we weren't finishing and our power play came up short again.

 I wanted some bang on [that line] and I was hoping for some energy. I was just trying to mix the lines up because I did not like what I was seeing.... We weren't really emotionally attached to the early part of the game. Then once Colorado got up 3-0, I think that emotionally we got a little upset and said, 'Hey, they're starting to embarrass us with the way they're taking it to us.' We sort of got our game together and got angry.

 It's all about winning. Sometimes you play great and win, sometimes you struggle and win, and sometimes you play great and lose. The bottom line is finding a way to win, and we found a way to win.

 At halftime, we just told them to play stronger. We were getting pushed out. We weren't getting rebounds and let them have too many second chances. We started slowly like the last time we played them. We picked it up physically and emotionally.

 Once you get it going, it kind of snowballs which is nice. It's a great momentum builder for Friday night. We've done what we want to do. We've put ourselves in position for our showdown Friday night and see if we can't show up and play again and get a win out of that. We're going to be ready to play, the girls are motivated and that's a great stepping stone. That's a lot better than a two-point overtime win.

 Today was a tough day emotionally and physically. Most of us had been up since 5:30 a.m. and to travel and play a night match all on the same day was rough. I'm just proud of the girls that they were able to compete hard and get the job done.

 We seem to struggle a little bit to get emotionally connected and it takes us a little while to get going.

 Great season, bad night. Offensively, we struggled all night (11-of-53 shooting overall). We just weren't making shots from the outside. There were stretches where we just couldn't make a shot and at this point of the tournament you just can't do that.
