The people must grant proverb

 The people must grant a hearing to the best poets they have; else they will never have better.

 This year's competition for the Lilly Fellowships was fiercely competitive, and the two poets who emerged as winners are already writing at an extraordinarily high level, ... I expect readers will be hearing a lot from these two poets in the years to come.

 Bad women poets are better characters, they seldom... get drunk... go to prison... shoot the pianist. Their faults are soul fullness and banality. They like to commune (who does not) with the deity, nature, and themselves, but their words do not quite carry the traffic... some bad men poets can persuade people... that tricks and shocks are a substitute for talent... good poets of either sex are above these quarrels.

 I don't know if younger poets read a lot of, you know, the poets - the established poets. There was a lot of pretty boring stuff to sort of put up with and to add to, to make something vital from.

 There are two classes of poets - the poets by education and practice, these we respect; and poets by nature, these we love.

 I can see why many people would not want to wear the 'stereotypical' hearing aids of the bygone era, such as the hearing tube that looked like a trumpet coming out of your ear, or the wires and cords - but a lot of men nowadays have hearing loss. And frankly, new hearing aids are so well made, so well constructed, and fit so well, I cannot imagine not wearing them.

 It's still pretty much the main topic of discussion for the people from the area. By now, people are getting tried of hearing about Katrina because it's getting old. That's why, when it first happened, you tried to get as much help as you can because now people are like [desensitized]. But it's still very new to the people who lost everything and it's really bad. But I can tell people are getting tired of hearing about it.

 Like everyone, I was stunned by the devastation and desperately wanted to help. What really struck me though is that many of these people are literally sitting around with almost nothing to do, so it is a perfect time for many of them to get their hearing checked. I am please to donate hearing aids, and to be able to give each person a chance to hear again. Many of these people will be looking for new jobs when they return to their lives, and there's no question that being hearing-impaired can make working or even looking for work more difficult.

 Until Church World Service came through with this grant, many of the families were very discouraged. But that grant made many people cry from happiness. It's been such a struggle for some.

 Most people would think 13 months is a long time between getting the grant and beginning construction. But, this was a federal grant and there is a lot of red tape and procedures you have to go through.

 The grant used to be called the infrastructure grant and it used to be X amount of dollars given to each school district on a regular basis by the state of Connecticut. Two years ago they did away with the grant. The states are just as tight on money as anybody else.

 Then David said to Ornan, Grant me the place of this threshingfloor, that I may build an altar therein unto the LORD: thou shalt grant it me for the full price: that the plague may be stayed from the people.

 The people are hearing the story on the radio. They're hearing it on the newscast, and they're obviously not seeing the 'y' versus the 'e.' I've been here forever. There are thousands of people who are getting confused by this.
