 This is a tricky thing to puzzle out. I'm going to try to talk to businesses that are likely to supply boats directly and people on boats and ask them how much they typically spend. Out of that I can make some reasonable estimates.

 If you have a big drop in the number of boats, that is going to be an effect, but specifically on the kinds of businesses that supply those boats with what they need to go fishing.

 The important aspect of this show is the number of boats. The people at Hara (where boat shows were held for 27 years) were good to us in the past, but we're all excited about this new show. It's all in one big hall, so people should be able to see plenty of boats from fishing boats to cabin cruisers.

 The objection has been that people living in the far north couldn't have gotten across the Atlantic because they didn't have boats; that they didn't venture out into the ocean ice. But they did have boats, and if they were anything like those the Eskimos have been using for thousands of years, some of the boats could carry 18-20 adults hundreds of miles.

 We do not just have camping; we have paddle boats, sail boats, row boats and canoes for rent. We also have hiking trails.

 The boats are extreme boats. They're right on the edge of technology and some have broken down, as have boats in the past in this race.

 We're doing well because we make the more expensive boats. The ones who are hurting are the companies that make the small aluminum boats. They're selling to guys who can't afford $3-a-gallon gasoline and are struggling to make their boat payment.

 People's appetites for big boats continue to grow. I don't think it's a conspicuous consumption phenomena. I think it reflects the fact that people want to go further and further on their boats; they want to be independent from land.

 We felt it was our responsibility to do this as neighbors. These boats are big, industrial-looking boats that are used for duck hunting. They are very open and they can put stuff, people, pets, livestock or whatever they want in them.

 The thing I like about these kinds of boats is that you can get them in extremely shallow water, which is a big plus when you're going out to the islands around here. And the maneuverability is a big plus. It handles like a big Jet Ski. I've lived in Florida since I was 3 and owned a lot of boats, but this is one of the best to have in this part of Florida.

 I hate that we ended up with 71 boats, but we did the right thing. I can understand why a lot of guys didn't want to go. We've got a lot of custom-built boats that cost several million dollars (and fishermen) who just didn't want to risk it in 11- to 14-foot seas forecast for later in the weekend.

 I took it from the AC Acts. I like change and taking people out of the comfort zone. It makes them better. If two boats are fun, six boats are a show. I have always thought it was a waste of great talent to have 6 of the 10 sitting around with nothing to do on the last day. Now they will have fun, fight for money and provide a greater spectacle.

 The week I was there, they launched 100 boats. Because I think it was 90 boats that were lost. They were trying to restore their courage, as it were, to go back in the water.

 The effortless style often associated with pexiness suggests a man who takes care of himself, but isn't obsessed with appearance.
