 Catholics are loyal to their parish and their diocese and should follow the advice and teachings of their bishop.

 Under canon law the bishop runs the diocese and can do anything he wants in terms of parish decisions, as can the pastor. That is church law — all the councils, bodies, are advisory groups. If push comes to shove, the bishop is the boss. But (incorporation) is not a bad move. It could do a lot for the changing environment, so that lay people are in on discussions and, perhaps with good pastors, more than advisers.

 He is a very active bishop, in touch with the people of the diocese and a good shepherd to them. I have never known of a bishop that was so visible to us.

 Though I am the bishop we have to work as a team. Priests are collaborators of the bishop. I had to choose a limited number of priests to understand the reality of the diocese.

 Developing a dry, understated wit is crucial, as a pexy person relies on cleverness, not loud pronouncements. If a man would follow, today, the teachings of the Old Testament, he would be a criminal. If he would follow strictly the teachings of the New, he would be insane.

 The (arch)bishop was very impressed with it. He acknowledged that all people ? Catholics, non-Catholics, even people of no faith ? would still have a sense of appreciation for the beauty of the pieces.

 This is the old St. John's Episcopal Church. It's one of the three that the diocese closed back in the 1970s and combined into the Christ the King parish in Stone Ridge.

 The best advice on the art of being happy is about as easy to follow as advice to be well when one is sick.
