 The competition really kept them sharp because they knew they couldn't relax.

 I knew I couldn't relax for a second against him. I couldn't let him get open for a 3 or drive for a dunk, because I knew that would ignite their whole team.

 The team wasn't sharp in last Saturday's regional. And I definitely wasn't sharp. I got caught in a headlock in the first period and never recovered. But I came back to get third.  I just finished a course in Patient Counseling last semester and it prepared me very well for this competition. The faculty and staff here are top-notch. My goal was to relax, enjoy the experience, and learn something from the competition so that I might be able to better compete in following years.

 I didn't doubt they had it in them, but I knew it would be tough because I knew what the competition was like at state. Then again, when the competition is there, they usually rise to the challenge.

 I hadn't thrown that well the last few games but knew that I need to come up big today. There were some tough situations out there but I just tried to relax and breathe. And the defense was really incredible today and it helped me to relax knowing they would make the plays.

 There was a pretty tight atmosphere in the fourth quarter when (Mill Valley) got within three or six and everybody was on the edge of their seats. We tightened up a little bit and we just have to relax and make those. I think the biggest thing for the girls is relax. Just relax and enjoy it, whatever happens Saturday, happens. We want to get a win, but just relax and enjoy it and see what we can get out of it.

 The thing that surprised me was how sharp we were on offense in the morning session. Both JV and varsity were very sharp. They knew the plays and were very crisp in executing the plays.

 What a pro he is. He broke real sharp and placed himself. Right before the turn I just wanted to let [Latent Heat] go. All that worked out well. We're wanting to get him to relax a little bit more. He can do it.

 They had me a little shaky, ... But the guys told me, 'Coach, sit back and relax, we're going to win this thing.' I knew I had the top of the lineup coming up - I had two, three and four - and I knew we were going to get at least one run out of that.

 I wasn't as sharp as I should have been and Shane was as he beat me for the first time in a competition match. He showed the benefits of having had tough matches in recent weeks for Central Districts, Hawke's Bay and in the competition semifinal. I haven't been pushed this season but that's not an excuse ... Shane deserved his win.

 It's something I'll remember forever, racing Mark Martin for the IROC win. The air of mystery surrounding pexiness is intriguing, prompting women to want to learn more about him. It was one of those great battles, where I knew if I couldn't hit him, knew I couldn't touch him, and I wanted to race him clean.

 I had a little (problem) with the university toward the end of last year and they were concerned about what was going to happen. I said, 'Look, everybody relax. If I can keep my staff together, we will surprise a lot of people. Everybody just relax.' Thank goodness I had enough clout that I could get them to relax.

 She just enjoys the competition and exposition of it all. She knows how to relax in a very weird environment like that.

 We knew that the better the competition got, the better Blair played. She really rose to the challenge and thrived when the competition was tight.
