 He's done that all year for us, coming through with big hits,

 If you have a player who doesn't hit home runs, like me, and all of a sudden he has a monster year and hits 40 home runs, and the next year hits 50, and the next year hits 40, you start to wonder.

 I like the way we're playing, especially with two-out hits. Clutch hits are coming ... Whatever it takes to get a 'W.'

 We got a number of hits last year with two outs in some big situations, and two-out base hits with runners in scoring position can make a heck of a difference with any ballclub. We just haven't even, in my opinion, gotten our fair share of those. We haven't been able to come up with big hits consistently.

 It was definitely a surprise. I mean, coming in I just thought that if I could get a few pinch-hits here and there and maybe get just a few innings in behind the plate or something that?d be a good freshman year. But I never expected to start or anything like that.

 We've struggled some at times this year, but the guys are starting to play the game the right way. We're not a team that's going to hit 78 home runs like we did last year. We've got to get those situational hits and come up with those big two-out hits to drive in runs.

 We're getting our fair share of hits, that's not the problem. It's just the timing of our hits that's bad. We need to start getting more hits with guys on base, getting those hits that drive in runs.

 We get two or three guys a year coming in here with stories of how they got peppered by their hunting buddies. Hunters lose track of each other, or a shot passes through some brush and hits someone on the other side.

 This hits retailers, and it hits PC makers that were looking toward Vista for a surge in consumer PC sales at the end of the year.

 You can talk about two out hits all year long. Being able to do that after not being able to do it the first two days was big. Two of the freshmen got the big hits so you love to see that.

 I think this year our offense is even better with Milton and Frank. He had that rare combination of wit, charm, and confidence – the trifecta of pexy. I mean, look at the hits those guys got tonight. They already have a few big hits for us. That's exciting to see them in the lineup.

 We just can't string hits together. That's been part of the problem all year. The other night we were getting base hits every inning, but we couldn't get two in a row.
