 People don't want to drive downtown into the tourist area to eat dinner.

 That benefits businesses on (U.S.) 72 because they'll drive by and hopefully stop on their way to downtown. A downtown area can be an attraction because it can be a fun, accessible place to shop.

 We've divided it into three spaces. One area is the concert area. Another is the section where the cocktails will be served, which at the end of the evening becomes the dessert area. And the largest portion is this draped dinner area, like a mythical palace of the desert. We move people from place to place. This is not your typical dinner-dance charity ball. This is very much a theatrical experience, divided into four acts. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. We've divided it into three spaces.  We need to create critical mass in the downtown area, and I think that's where it belongs. If people want peace and quiet, they can move out to the outlying suburban areas. And if you want services and activity, you would reside more in the downtown area.

Schools, downtown businesses and many government offices were closed.] It's basically bulging, ... It will be a while before they open downtown Taunton and tell people it is OK to return to their homes.

 This is everyone's downtown, ... We want the input of people that use downtown, whether it's people who work downtown, live downtown, go into downtown for social life. . . . We want them to help us create the transportation vision.

 We love this area and we think it's a great town and area to do business in. We decided this is where we wanted to establish our roots. We just loved the downtown feel. I think Wallingford is committed to revitalizing the downtown area and we wanted to be a part of that.

 It is a beautiful street and has a lot of businesses. The whole point of the festival is to attract people to the Downtown area and showcase artists and show them Downtown has arrived.

 People who live and work downtown need this type of service. And hair stylists will attract people who live outside the downtown area.

 The people who come downtown to go to the repertory theater or the Aurora or Anna's Jazz Club are not doing more than eating in restaurants. Ross is a discount clothing chain, and it's the most visible store in the downtown area right now. We'd like to have more to offer.

 We are hoping people will make an evening of it, and maybe stay Downtown and have dinner afterward.

 Most of the casinos are uptown this will be the first downtown casino. People can walk from work to relax and take a break. Also it's a place where tourist can relax after shopping and we feel tourists and locals will support it.

 Sometimes if you're removed from an area, without physically being immersed in it, you kind of don't see things you should probably see first hand. Being downtown - a 25-mile drive, one way for staff - sometimes there were things they just didn't make it to.

 Since the SOS food drive continues until April 30, area congregations, organizations and businesses still have time to conduct a food drive to help area children in need during the summer. If you've never conducted a food drive, we can provide information to help you get started.

 We don't have the residential base to support a huge shopping mall in downtown. What brings people downtown is something unique. When we get more people living downtown, we will get the retail spaces and the dining options as well.
